Your hosts are Sandy & Jeff Bihner. (pronounced "beaner")

Jeff is a master craftsman and carpenter. He built this little house himself as well as the dining table, nightstands, TV stand, cabinets and racks for towels. All is made from cedar, alder, redwood and mesquite. There is no drywall at all.
Sandy is a good old-fashioned cook and always has fun in the kitchen.

We're not going green around here, we are green, and have been since way before green was "in". The dish washing liquid is biodegradable as is the hand soap provided for you. The trash bags in the kitchen and bathroom are as well. We recycle cans, glass and plastic and encourage our guests to participate in this during their stay. Even Fat Cow, our website hosting is powered by 100% wind energy.
~~~~~~~~~~~
We don't mind if you smoke. Out of consideration of future guests we request that you smoke outside or on the covered porch.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Though we love our furry friends we don't accept "pet guests" as they may not get along with our own.
No children under 16 for safety considerations.
(If you want to request an exception, talk it over with Sandy. Who knows, it could happen...)
We don't allow catching our crawdaddies. They are keeping our river so clean and pure and are part of a delicate balance.
~~~~~~~~~~~
There is no in-room telephone. For a true emergency you may use the phone in the big house.
(You're getting away from it all, remember?)
~~~~~~~~~~~
Check-in is between 2pm to 4pm. Check-out is 11am. If you're going to be running late for check-in please give us a call to let us know. (541) 267-0988
Reservations need to be at least one week in advance to be held for you. Cancellations of less that one week notice will have a $50 fee. We are a small operation with only one unit and late cancellations affect us greatly.
~~~~~~~~~~~
We look forward to your visit with us. You can expect a good old-fashioned welcome. Your comfort and enjoyment is a high priority.
Things are very relaxed and casual around here. Allegany is a small river community consisting of about 350 families scattered up and down both the east fork and the west fork of the Millicoma River, an extension of the Coos River. There are no neighborhoods here ~ acres between neighbors. This is truly the country. We have our country market, a church, a community center, which contains our charter school, a free (no membership needed) library where you can borrow or exchange books and return them or even keep them and take them home with you, and a Post Office. Though you may not see many people, except by choice, they are old-fashioned style friendly. It's the kind of place that if someone is sick the neighbors make sure they are taken care of or if someone's barn burns down the men get together and build another one and the women show up with the food.
Places of interest to visit
There are plenty of things to do around here if you want to get out and about.
Golden & Silver Falls State Park ~ just up the East Fork Rd. with two beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails. Very worth a visit. If you don't bring your camera you'll be kicking yourself.
Shore Acres Park ~ a wonderland of flowers, shrubs, trees, ponds and metal sculpture with the ocean as a backdrop. It's just up the road from Charleston and, again, a camera is a must.
Bastendorf Beach ~ located between Charleston and Shore Acres Park where you can stroll or jog on the beach, look for driftwood, go for a swim or have a picnic.
Charleston ~ our own little waterfront town. It is where all our local fishing vessels haul in and dock. There are some quaint gift shops and restaurants and one of the best seafood markets on the coast, Chuck's, where you can get fresh, canned or smoked fish and shellfish. You can even charter a fishing boat.
The Dunes ~ miles of beautiful windblown dunes just north of North Bend, Coos Bay's sister city. You can just look, hike around or rent a dune buggy and really get into some fun.
